Very Bows Balloons

Why dont I look like anyone in my family, especially my sister?
No, dont make a stupid joke like "your adopted" or "you have different fathers", I can actually remember my sister being born (I was almost 3), and I trust my mom and her pictures from when I was born which have my dad in them lol.
All my immediate family members have brown hair/brown eyes and glasses-and I have blonde hair/blue eyes with 20/20 vision.
My sister has a COMPLETELY different-looking face than me-she looks very Italian and I look English.
I have more allergys and health defects (ex. I have bowed legs and screwed up feet, allergic to latex and I cant even touch balloons :[ )
My sister is my height. Yes Im really short, AKA couple inches under 5'. But she is just 12 and Im 15, and I have a "15 year old body" and she has a "hasnt gone through puberty flat skinny 12-year old body".
People always either think we are friends, or dont know which one of use is older-o, c'mon stupid people! She looks wayyyy younger its just that Im short! Sorry bout that...
That's what's so amazing about genetic variability. There are literally millions of possible genetic combinations of your parents' DNA. Sometimes you very closely resemble a relative, and sometimes you don't. There's really nothing unusual about not looking like other people in your family.
My brother (who is 7 years younger than me) and I look extremely alike. And we look nothing like our parents or grandparents or anyone, really. We have blond hair and blue eyes, and everyone else in the family has brown hair and eyes. Although in order for you to be blond and blue-eyed, SOMEONE in your family must have had them. They're recessive traits, which means they can be passed from generation to generation without actually showing themselves.
Look for similarities in the small things. You'll notice small things you have in common with your family. For example, my feet look just like my mom's, I'm tall like my grandfather, I'm pale and easily sunburned like my dad, etc.

Balloons: Live at the Blue Note $13.58 As a composer, pianist Kenny Werner's reach is vast: it encompasses not only the jazz heritage, but also the classical and folk traditions, Western and Eastern. Balloons is compiled from two nights of quintet performances at the Blue Note in April of 2010 with trumpeter Randy Brecker, saxophonist David Sanchez, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Antonio Sanchez. These four long pieces reveal new traits in Werner's compositional thinking and present complex, harmonic notions accessibly. Simultaneously, this group makes the most of improvisational opportunities presented by their combined dynamic and tonal possibilities. "Sada" opens with a lilting, graceful melody, articulated by long, languid tones from Brecker and David Sanchez. Werner plays a series of comped notes as a constant, restrained drone is underscored by bass and drums. Even in his fine solo, he stays within a limited palette, both highlighting the melody and creating sense of space and color that is further enhanced by David Sanchez's solo later on. "Siene" showcases the entire frontline on a bossa-tinged groove. Brecker is illustrative and bright; David Sanchez more forceful and edgy; Werner holds them together assertively as he comps, then, inspired by their playing, finds a stellar bop improvisation in his solo. The title track is a seeming child's lullaby in the singsongy melody that is articulated in a long, hypnotic piano solo intro atop a pulsing, hypnotic, two-chord pattern. When the band enters, they add air and light, opening the tune up without sacrificing its childlike notion of song. The melody expands as Brecker and David Sanchez play rounded warm expressions of it before their solos come into play. The album's final track, "Class Dismissed," is ebullient from the start with Antonio Sanchez's drums playing in an aggressive stop-start time as piano, trumpet, and saxophone dig deeply into a very knotty, hard-swinging lyric. Patitucci's fluidity and force bridge the players, even when the horns enter into contrapuntal discussions. Werner's piano frames that energy and makes it sing. The drum solo is an exercise in Afro-Cuban, post-bop lyricism in and of itself. Balloons is, at its heart, yet another expression of Werner's compositional, instrumental, and leadership gifts; but it is also a document of a group communicating so intuitively, that it sounds like they've been together for decades. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi |
